Brentwood Race League - Season 7 - Round 6

Updated: Jun 5, 2023

It's Sunday morning and we are back at Brentwood for Round 6 of the Cadet League & the official halfway point of the season, this one really is flying past.

I had a disappointing qualification as the kart I had really lacked power on the straights and the best I could manage was P6. In the heat I got off of the line really well but then the kart just didn't get up to speed quick enough and I dropped down the pack to P8 which was really frustrating.

I was going to need a lot of luck to pull something out of the bag. The heat seemed to go on forever with very little progress being made but in the end I managed to get up to P4 and hold it, therefore the next heat I would start pole.

The 2nd heat it was a much more straight forward, I got off to a flying start and quickly pulled a lead. I ended up winning the heat by 13.5 seconds.

In the A Final I started P3, I got off to a good start but was pushing to hold 2nd into the first corner and went a bit wide and lost the position, falling back to P3. I was trying my hardest all the way through the race and tried a few moves to regain 2nd but just couldn't make the moves stick. I dropped back after some contact from behind and was pushing all the way to get back again.

An ABC was given to Jacob who was in front of me on a move he made on Mikey on the final laps, so he had to drop back a position, therefore I finished P3. I was really disappointed as I felt that I should have won the race with the pace the kart had, I just couldn't clear Ben, so felt a bit disappointed with myself. The positives are that I banked another 31 points today and can collect another trophy next week.

Onto Round 7.
