With 2 rounds to go this really could go anyway, the pressure is on.
So we are back at Brentwood Karting and this week I really need a strong result to keep me within striking distance to take the Title in the final round.
So the Quali went well, with me securing pole and Rory who is my Championship rival securing 3rd, he was close but at least he wasn't in front of me. The first few laps of Heat 1 were ok, but the others behind me were getting quicker, again just like last week we was trading the lead and the same as the previous week I was handed an ABC on the same corner as last week (I'm still unsure exactly what I'm doing wrong here, even after watching back the footage and am going to ask for advice this week on this corner). In the end I finished 2nd, not what I was hoping for but there was always the next heat to try again for the win.
Heat 2 was up next and I was starting P10 on the grid, another solid result was needed. I got a fairly good start to the race after a false start, there was quite a bit of contact in some corners but we managed to get through. I managed to get myself into 2nd but after a mistake I made dropped down to P3 and finished there. Although I hadn't secured the maximum Heat points I was hoping for, I had a strong set of results & others around me had grid penalties so was hoping to start high up on the grid.
The A Final was next and I was starting on pole. Just to make things more interesting Dan decided that we was going to do a Le Man start and reverse track. Starting on pole, I just needed a strong start and to not get stuck jumping in the kart or anything silly.
I got a dream start to the race and seemed to pull an immediate gap from the pack behind me. There wasn't really much to report on the final as it was pretty uneventful for me, seemed like most of the action and overtaking was happening behind me, in the end I won the race by 8.8 seconds.
This didn't give me maximum points for the week due to not getting a win in the heat HOWEVER, I did get enough points to go into the final round tying on points in the league with both myself & Rory on 287.
Next week will be another tough round as I'm now facing another 5 place grid penalty. It's down to Round 12 to see who will be crowned Brentwood's Summer 2022 Cadet Champion and one that you won't want to miss!
