Brentwood Super League - Season 5 - Round 2

Updated: Sep 18

After my long break from GCSE studies, I have returned to Brentwood more determined than before, and we are back for Season 5 Round 2 and we were straight out for the quali session.

At the start of the season everyone is back to square one, so no penalties for anyone so it could go anyone’s way today but to start of the day I put in a good enough lap for P2 for the start of the race, not a bad way to come back. The race didn’t go that bad considering I started on the outside as on the start I lost 4 places but I just had to come back, and that was exactly what I did once I got through to P3 I pulled away from the forming train behind me and was after P2 but before I knew it he was gone and I had run out time so I ended the race P3 which considering I started on the outside was actually pretty good.

Heat 2 was next and since I have been gone, they had introduced a new heat 2 qualifying system which was a one lap shootout, and I think I messed up my lap quite badly so was expecting to be near the back however I once again quailed P2 which made me believe I had the pace to win the race. However, at the start I went nowhere and had lost 2 places and fell to P4 but then towards the middle of the race I began to find some pace in the kart and began to catch-up to P3 and before I knew it I was past but just like in heat 1 the kart ahead had already pulled away and I had no more time remaining to catch up.

These two results had me starting P5 in the A final which I was pleased about, and on the start since I had the inside line, I had gotten past most of the other karts but had a pack of 5 in front but luckily for me one of them had been spun out and made me take P3. and once again I was chasing down the pack in front which was the fight for the lead of the race and once I had arrived it was back and forth between all 3 of us but once I had gotten past P2 I realised the kart behind me was so much faster down the straight so I began to defend and on the last lap the other kart had got alongside me to the line, it was a drag race that I won, unfortunately I had accidently squeezed the other kart out too far and onto the grass giving me a ABC which put me into P3 on the day which I was very happy about as I had not raced I over 5 months so I was very pleased with my result.

Now I am hoping to keep these kind of results on for the rest of the season and if I do I have a good chance at the podium or even the championship so let’s keep pushing!
